Overview
Process

In the summer of 2018, I had the opportunity to work as a Marketing & Design Intern for McKinley Irvin Family Law in Seattle. Under the guidance of Heidi Sogn, Gabi Garret, and Casey Osterhaus, I created a variety of graphic images for the firm’s social media pages and print ads for events. The goal was to add a light-hearted and personal touch to McKinley Irvin’s online presence, ensuring their graphics resonated with their audience throughout the year.

Results

Social Media Graphics:
I designed multiple graphic images tailored for McKinley Irvin’s Facebook page. Each graphic was created to correspond with specific holidays, bringing a cheerful and engaging element to the firm’s social media presence. The objective was to create visuals that were not only professional but also approachable, reflecting the firm’s friendly and supportive nature.

Event Advertising:
One of the key projects during my internship was developing advertisements and posters for McKinley Irvin’s sponsorship of the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association’s annual retreat. The theme for the retreat that year was the Roaring 20s. Working within McKinley Irvin’s strict brand guidelines, which included limited font and color choices, I initially faced a design challenge. My original concept featured a blue background with a yellow Art Deco-inspired border, but the constraints of the sans-serif font and minimal text required a different approach.

By incorporating silhouettes of dancing figures and yellow accents, I was able to create a dynamic and visually appealing design that captured the essence of the Roaring 20s while staying true to the brand guidelines.

The graphics and advertisements I created for McKinley Irvin Family Law successfully enhanced their social media presence and event visibility. The social media images brought a personal touch to the firm’s online interactions, engaging their audience in a more relatable way. The event posters and advertisements not only adhered to the strict brand guidelines but also stood out, effectively promoting the firm’s sponsorship of the retreat. This experience allowed me to blend creativity with brand consistency, producing designs that resonated with the target audience and met the firm’s objectives.
