Posters & more for Belly Up
in Solana Beach

Overview

As the Marketing & Graphics Coordinator for Belly Up, a legendary music venue in Solana Beach, I’m responsible for creating fan-facing visuals that bring the energy of our live shows to life. My work spans concert posters, social media graphics, and branded restaurant materials that connect the venue’s historic character with a fresh, bold visual style.

I collaborate closely with our marketing team to design and deliver assets that keep the venue’s lineup and brand front and center. From quick-turnaround promotional graphics to more conceptual show posters, my focus is on pairing clear communication with a strong sense of place and personality.

Process

Each show requires 5–7 unique dimensions to fit all the platforms our marketing team uses. About half the time I adapt artwork provided by the artist, localizing it for Belly Up’s needs. The other half, I create the artwork myself, often sourcing CC0 images or working with provided photos and compositing them in Photoshop. When designing from scratch, I took a note from one of my coworkers and often listen to the artist’s music to capture the right tone and vibe.

Results

I’m still pretty new to the role, but I’m thrilled with how it’s going. One of my posts “Life Is Better With A Concert On The Calendar” ended up being one of our top-performing social posts ever and really resonated with our audience. I’ve also created a set of bookmarked templates and assets for our different media needs, which has significantly sped up my production time . Day-to-day, I create posters and more for all our shows, I design and gather the required content for two weekly newsletters, coordinate with our contracted web designer on monthly calendars and various side projects, set up weekly presale registrations, along with ad hoc marketing initiatives.
